Beckett' s first love

[edit]

In 1928, when living in Paris, Beckett visited a cousine, Peggy Sinclair, in the town of Kassel, Germany. Father Sinclair, a galerist, had moved from Ireland to Kassel in order to get in trade with the famous Kassel Kunstakademie. Beckett fell in love with Peggy and so he had several visits in Kassel between 1928 and 1932. In "Dream of Fair.." he describes accurately his walks, restaurants, streets, parks a.o. of the pre-war Kassel.
