The image in question is from Ducati sales literature and is widely distributed on the web. As for the replace-ability, I have yet to find a more appropriate image depicting the changes to the front of the motorcycle. This is to illustrate the design change for the 2004 model, and to contrast it to the previous design.

Re-inserted "This reduced the force necessary to engage the clutch, and rider fatigue, which was a welcome change for heavy traffic where clutch engagement may be frequent." This has been discussed as up to 30% reduction in force by various review sources. Oil in the clutch will assist in clutch action.

From the manufacturer: http://www.ducati.com/docs_eng/model05/sporttouring/info_01.html

"All ST engines are equipped with a "wet" clutch for less clutch lever pull effort and quieter operation."

A selected quote: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/motorbikes/adventureandtrailmotorbikes/2746897/Essence-of-fun.html

"The clutch lever is light, though, and Ducati reckons a redesign has reduced the required force by 30 per cent compared with its other dry clutches..."

Undid revision 276127023 by anonymous. Description of transverse engine layout in specifications is to differentiate this type of engine from others, such as in the BMW, Honda Goldwing or Moto Guzzi, that use a longitudinal layout. This information is useful, but possibly trivial.

Merger

[edit]

"It has been suggested that this article be merged into Ducati ST series. (Discuss) Proposed since April 2016."

I support a merger. Arrivisto (talk)
