This article should rather be called "German Armed Forces Campaign Medal", since the medal is awarded for campaigns outside of Germany, not for general service.

Yes if it was done the American way it could be called a Campaign medal. But when you translate it form the German name Einsatzmedaille der Bundeswehr to English it's called the German Armed Forces Service Medal. EHDI5YS 23:51, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, I don't think the translation is accurate. "Einsatz" means "deployment" or "campaign," not just "service," which translates as "Dienst." So I totally agree with the first poster, this article should be renamed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.54.39.210 (talk) 00:45, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Once again close but still a miss, The last translation is also inaccurate. "Einsatz" means "deployment" or "mission". "Dienst" means "service" or "duty". A) My wife is German and B)I used de.wiktionary.org to translate "Einsatz" and I got this:

[1] & [2]
Einsatz (genitive Einsatzes, plural Einsätze)

  1. use
  2. effort
  3. risk
  4. (games) stake
  5. (military) mission

In reality this article really doesn't need to be renamed at all. --Dandvsp (talk) 00:37, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm german... and I do not think that "Service Medal" is an accurate translation of "Einsatzmedaille". "In den Einsatz gehen" means "being deployed", and not "doing service". I therefore vote to have the name of the article changed to "German Armed Forces Deployment Medal". --84.177.132.169 (talk) 13:43, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
