Welcome to Wikipedia, Stevesuny! I'm Ozzie10aaaa, and I've been assigned as your mentor. About half of new Wikipedia accounts receive a mentor chosen randomly from a list of volunteers. It just means I'm here to help with anything you need! We need to have all kinds of people working together to create an online encyclopedia, so I'm glad you're here. Over time, you will figure out what you enjoy doing the most on Wikipedia.

You might have noticed that you have access to a tutorial and suggested edits. It's recommended that you take advantage of this, as it'll make learning how to edit Wikipedia easier.

If you need assistance with anything or have any questions, click on the "Get editing help" button on the bottom right corner of your screen. This will open up a module with links to help pages and a place to ask me questions. You can also ask me questions directly on my talk page, or go here to get help from the wider community.

Again, welcome to Wikipedia!

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Winston Wole Soboyejo, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Andrew Russell. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

About an article currently assigned at WikiEd

[edit]

(mentioning the editor @MyNameIsPixul in this) Hello, I am the primary author (as of right now, at least) of an article currently being assigned to a WikiEd student, that article being Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. I don't have any problems with the article being assigned to the student editor, but I want to bring up that it is currently a candidate for good article status at WP:VG/GA. I have faith in the editor that has been assigned to the article, but I am mentioning this as there is a chance whoever reviews the article requests removal or rewrite of text written by student, which could interfere with the course. I do believe in the editor that will be working on it and I highly doubt that any problems will arise, but the current good article nomination is something that should be known to the editor and you as the course instructor. Thanks for your comments. We actually discussed this in class yesterday; it was a good lesson for students learning to engage with the Wikipedia community. Whatever happens will certainly not interfere with the class, but I very much appreciate the concerns and your pro-active discusion. Stevesuny (talk) 17:54, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

On-wiki hello

[edit]

Hi Steve!

I’m in the audience for your talk right now … we met yesterday; Annie thought you were me and I had her take a picture of both of us.

Good talk. Just basically tagging your page so you know how to reach me; if there is any assistance I can give you with your classes and students please do not hesitate to let me know. I am not at all averse to even going up to Utica to do that. Daniel Case (talk) 16:17, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nice to meet you & lists generated from Wikidata

[edit]

Hi Steve,

Nice to meet you at WCNA ! Sorry I missed your talk - typical conference problem of conflicting simultaneous sessions. I intend to examine your Wikiversity pages - lots to look at! I wanted to give you an example of an automatically generated list based on Wikidata. This is an update I receive daily (a bot posts is to my talk page): Wikipedia:WikiProject_Women_in_Red/Missing_articles_by_occupation/Opera_singers. This is a list of Wikidata page (of female opera singers) who do not have a Wikipedia page. You'll see there a number of columns, indicating that one can bring the information from Wikidata into a list appearing in Wikipedia. Hope this helps! - kosboot (talk) 17:38, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I'll take a look. Stevesuny (talk) 03:09, 15 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
