The building would have been originally located on the block where the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts now sits, as that was the block set aside for schools in the original townsite plat. An explanation of exactly when, where and why the building was moved from that site would be helpful. The building's current setting is known as Ben Crawford Park, but that's yet another aspect of Anchorage's history which needs to be acknowledged.
