Article subject

[edit]

Is this article about a single tornado or all of the tornadoes from 7 Feb? The lead section and the title seem to indicate that this is only about the New Orleans East tornado, but the table of tornadoes is confusing the issue.Sario528 (talk) 21:59, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I considered asking a similar question a couple hours ago. The title seems to imply the former to some extent, but the article leans more toward the latter. Master of Time (talk) 22:01, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The tornado table makes no sense here. The article is about the "2017 New Orleans tornado" not the outbreak. The table should be removed as the outbreak as a whole is unworthy of an article; the N.O. tornado is the only noteworthy tornado of the outbreak. -- Millionsandbillions (talk) 18:47, 14 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Done I left the lead in sentence as it provides good background context. Sario528 (talk) 19:44, 14 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Needs to be moved/awful article title

[edit]

The title of this article is extremely vague and overall very poor. I don't even know if this event was significant enough to warrant its own article, but if so I would definitely consider moving it to "February 2017 New Orleans tornado" or "February 7, 2017 tornado outbreak." Once again, I don't know if this is really even article worthy in the first place. Someone kinda jumped the gun on this one. I changed the title to "February 2017 New Orleans tornado". I question whether the word "February" is necessary, but I decided to make that a separate issue (I don't think there is much/any controversy about making the title more specific). Master of Time (talk) 06:06, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The current title (2017 New Orleans tornado outbreak) makes no sense. There was only a single tornado in New Orleans. We need to come to a consensus whether this article will focus on the New Orleans tornado or cover all of the Louisiana tornadoes from that day. I recommend we move back to "February 2017 New Orleans tornado" and only cover the New Orleans tornado Sario528 (talk) 13:48, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The discussion on the other page seemed to indicate a consensus for an article for this one tornado rather than for this outbreak as a whole. Plus, there was only one tornado in New Orleans. Hence, I restored it to the "New Orleans tornado" title. Master of Time (talk) 16:20, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Damage caused by the tornado at the National Finance Center

I managed to find this public domain image of tornado-caused damage. Perhaps it will be of use at some point, at least before better images become available. I would consider including it as a short-term main image for the infobox, but it displays too large for the article's current length. Master of Time (talk) 05:46, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
