- Comment: I have added the template to allow for resubmission, did a little work on it but this still needs more work with the prose and sourcing before it should be resubmitted. It appears some content was copied from Sue Hendra, however most of those sources made no mention on Linnet so I removed it. Please only cite sources to which you have access and be sure the source supports the content. S0091 (talk) 18:33, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
Paul Linnet is an English author and illustrator.
Biography
Paul Linnet is an award-winning children's author and illustrator from Brighton,[1] and is co-author with Sue Hendra of many books including Barry the Fish With Fingers, the The Sunday Times best seller Supertato: Books Are Rubbish!.[2] and the entire series of best-selling Supertato books.
Paul grew up in the Midlands, reading Tintin and playing classic 80’s video games, before becoming obsessed with scribbling, writing, guitars, and motorcycles. He played with his band The Chihuahuas for many years before swapping music for writing, a move which proved wise given his book sales were at 3 million as of 2024.
Work
Linnet's current publishing deal is with Simon and Schuster.[1] No-Bot, the Robot With No Bottom won the Picture Book Award in the 2014 Oxfordshire Book Awards.
Alongside Sue Hendra Linnet wrote a book for 2016's World Book Day titled Supertato: Hap-Pea Ever After for pre-school children and a handmade book in 2023 titled The Story of a Story for the British Library[3]
In 2016, his best selling book I Need A Wee won the Scholastic Corporation Laugh Out Loud Award for Best Picture Book[4].
The Supertato books [5] have regularly topped the children's book charts including in 2020[6] and 2023, and Mean Green Time Machine was shortlisted for a British Book Award in Chiildren's Book of the Year 2023.[7] The Guardian described Supertato as "an absolute juggernaut of a book, beloved by kids to the point of hysteria."[8] Linnet and Hendra's Supertato discovered a whole new audience when Tom Hiddleston read one of their books on CBeebies Bedtime Stories [9] [10]
In 2022 Supertato was turned into a hit series for CBeebies on BBC. In late 2023, a range of Supertato merchandise for A/W 2024 was announced via BBC [11]
In February 2024, the latest Supertato book Eviltato vs Superpea went straight to number one in the Amazon children's book charts [12] and reviews proved the series shows no sign of slowing down. [13]
Linnet is a regular guest at many prestigious International literary festivals, including Edinburgh International Book Festival[14] and the International Literature Festival Dublin[15].
