The Institute for International Research (IIR) is credited by many as being one of the first -- if not the first -- modern conference company. It was founded by owner Irvine Laidlaw in 1973. It serves a yearly audience of more than 650,000 executives around the world.now IIR is part of Informa Plc.

Irvine Laidlaw began IIR by producing newsletters out of a base in Hong Kong and soon realised that Conferences and Seminars were a more efficient way of getting information to the people who really wanted it. By getting high profile experts together with business people more high quality information was exchanged.

Now IIR has grown to host events with world leaders such as Rudolf Guiliani, Colin Powell, Richard Branson & Sir Alan Sugar.
