She was a top academic student and well decorated with well over 60 gold medals for her athletic performance, and a district record for short distance hurdles in District 3. Growing up she often saw her middle class parents getting drunk and throwing fists at each other, bleeding and causing significant harm to one another. For this reason Anje decided that the streets are safer than her father's abode, leaving her neighborhood and school for the unknown.

Instead, she completed her matric through a home school system while working as a hostess in Hatfield, Pretoria. She could barely speak English at the time and tried to study as much as possible at work. Anje shared that she had a tough life at the age of 15, and struggled to find home owners that were willing to rent property to her due to her age, despite the fact that she was earning sufficient amounts of money to cover her stay.

She ended up staying wherever she could for the first year of her premature adulthood, focusing on her career. As a hostess, she became connected to a group of wealthy, influential young people and soon after grew her hostessing service into a small business with 50 outsourced employees. She was also a heavy smoker and consumed lots of alcohol in her early years. As time went on, Anje experimented with various drugs and became a cocaine addict before the age of 18. She struggled psychologically and emotionally and had had a reconstructive nose surgery for the damage incurred from cociane at the age of 19. She also saw 7 different psychologists of whom 3 refused to see her again, and the other 4 had no solution. She then gave up on her search for help and discontinued the drug and alcohol use permanently, never to return. She replaced the burning addiction with work, books and relentless self-improvement.

Career: The next phase of her life included a series of business ventures including the development of a marketing company called Mulberry Blue Media which she sold to a comglomerate, some experiments in interior design and real estate development, real estate sales in connection with a company called Livingroom Properties, seminars, and the rapid growth of her famous multinational commodity trading company, Kruger Commodities. Anje is also the author of several books including All the lies we eat, which is published in the United Arab Emirates.

Net Worth: Anje has made no public claims regarding her net worth and keeps her income discreet, but her net worth is estimated to be around $10 million. She is also in a serious relationship with her female partner and ex-Maxim model, Cherry-Lee Samson, who has an estimated net worth of $25 million, of which she has accumulated a large portion from her involvement in Bollywood movies, commercial modeling, brand deals and supermodel events. They plan to build a dynasty and are currently living nomadically between the different branches of their businesses.

Personal Life: In 2021 Anje met her partner, Cherry-Lee Samson, at her birthday party on the 20th of October, and they immediately fell in love. Cherry-Lee turned 31 at the time and had been engaged three times before but never got married.
