Publishing
I created an account yesterday and created an article in my sandbox. do you know how i can publish it? i dont see an option to publish/move anywhere. Habesha101 (talk) 22:13, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Habesha101, thanks for your question. The easiest is to copy the contents of your sandbox (in source editing), and paste it into a new draft (in source editing too). From there, once you save your changes, you should see a "submit" button that will submit the article for review prior to publishing. Let me know if that answers your question.P.S. Please only ask a question once on my talk page. Duplicate questions will only overload it and overflow my notifications panel. Cheers! Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 12:30, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
Tech News: 2024-16
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Problems
- Between 2 April and 8 April, on wikis using Flagged Revisions, the "Reverted" tag was not applied to undone edits. In addition, page moves, protections and imports were not autoreviewed. This problem is now fixed. [1][2]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 16 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 17 April. It will be on all wikis from 18 April (calendar). [3][4]
- Default category sort keys will now affect categories added by templates placed in footnotes. Previously footnotes used the page title as the default sort key even if a different default sort key was specified (category-specific sort keys already worked). [5]
- A new variable
page_last_edit_age
will be added to abuse filters. It tells how many seconds ago the last edit to a page was made. [6]
Future changes
- Volunteer developers are kindly asked to update the code of their tools and features to handle temporary accounts. Learn more.
- Four database fields will be removed from database replicas (including Quarry). This affects only the
abuse_filter
andabuse_filter_history
tables. Some queries might need to be updated. [7]

sexual harrassment article has a typo
you reverted my edit saying it was not constructive but all I did was fix a typo. it was a fix of a typing error. there was an extra word that seemed to be accidentally added. how is that not constructive? there's a specific line that reads "or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature, verbal." which I believe is a typo and tried to fix it. that is all. 68.57.111.241 (talk) 21:29, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- @68.57.111.241 Thanks so much for pointing this out; you are right, there indeed is a typo! I've made a mistake when reviewing your edit; I've undone my revert, so it is back the way you had modified the article. If you'd like to remove the warning from your IP talk page, please feel free to do so.Thanks and sorry for my mistake!Cheers, Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 00:02, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
How to get started - Wikipedia
Hello @Cocobb8, how are you? I am reaching out because I've got questions on Wikipedia.
1) What is a semi-protection on an article?
2) How can we edit a semi-protection article? Is it even possible?
3) Is Wikipedia a reliable source? I guess it is not but I ask it anyway? :)
4) What is the "relaxation space"? Could you tell me more about it?
5) How can I join a talk page?
6) What are projects, who can edit them, how to become a member of a specific project? Is it possible? :)
Thanks in advance for your answer.
Have a nice day! :)
