The Amman-Zarqa Bus Rapid Transit (Arabic: الباص السريع بين عمان والزرقاء) is a project to address the transportation issues within and between two of the biggest Jordanian cities, the capital Amman and the nearby industrial city of Zarqa.[1] The project costs around 110 million dinars, it is currently under construction and will begin operations by the second quarter of 2024. There were plans since 1972 to build a light rail line (LRT) on the now defunct hijaz railway to with an extension to raghdan tourist terminal and to be called amman-Zarqa LRS (light rail system) but this didn’t go through so the brt line was built one from swiped tareq ein ghazal then Zarqa the other the same path but switches tareq station to Al mahata intermodal station. The road is to stay 6 lanes for cars and 2 lanes for the brt bus but this needs a widening of the road which is what most of the budget was allocated to.
