Protergia is the biggest private company for the production and supply of electricity and natural gas in Greece.[1] It is a subsidiary and is 100% owned by the MYTILINEOS.

Protergia is the Electricity and Natural Gas Unit of MYTILINEOS, the largest independent electricity producer company in Greece and is active in the supply of electricity and gas by offering modern and reliable services. Protergia offers combined electricity and gas products and serves more than 500.000 electricity supply account numbers throughout the country. Protergia manages all MYTILINEOS power plants, including gas-fired power plants and Renewable Energy plants (wind farms, PV stations and small hydro-electric projects).

It has an energy portfolio of 1,200MW thermal production capacity and 205 MW of Renewable Energy Sources, covering around 11% of domestic electricity demand in 2021.

The sophisticated way Protergia offers its products, the innovation in its services and the green design focus with friendly service, paves a new way to energy for thousands of households and businesses.

History

In July 2010, the MYTILINEOS agreed with Enel to acquire 50.01% of Endesa Hellas, which then belonged to Endesa SA. The MYTILINEOS thus becomes the sole shareholder of Endesa Hellas which will soon be called Protergia. Until the end of 2013, Protergia was exclusively an energy producer, while in January 2014 it started to be active in the supply of electricity and in January 2018 in the supply of natural gas.[2]
