Alejandro Cortés Calahorra born in Zaragoza (Spain), 1983 is a Scriptwriter and Filmmaker. Spanish Cinema Academy Member. ACCIÓN Spanish Filmmakers Association Member.


Studies

Government of Spain National Awards for Academic Excellence Special Mention. University degree in Filmmaking (Universidad del Cine de Buenos Aires; UCINE, Argentina). Alejandro Cortés Calahorra is known for his feature films CARRASCA [1] (Spain, 2018), Spanish Institute of Cinema (ICAA, Government of Spain) Special Mention [2] “Specially Recommended for the Promotion of Women Equality”, and REFUGIOS (Argentina/Spain, 2015) [3] with awards and selections at festivals in Spain, India, USA, Sweden, and Argentina.[4] [5] [6] Screened in "Cinema from Spain" at 64th Berlinale (Berlin) and at Ventana Sur 2014 (Buenos Aires).


In 2021 he is finalist at CANNESERIES UNLIMITED 2021 (Cannes International Screenwriters Residency) [7] [8]. Research and Investigation Director at HÉROES: SILENCIO & ROCK ‘N’ ROLL (NETFLIX, 2021) [9], documentary feature film about “Héroes del Silencio” rock band, directed by Alexis Morante and produced by Miguel Ángel Lamata.


His current project of series and movie "1999" wins IBERMEDIA scholarship at LABGUION 2020 Colombia International Cinema Script Laboratory[10], "Santa Isabel de Aragón, Reina de Portugal" Script Award 2020 [11] (Spain) and Aragón Government Audiovisual Development 2020 (Spain). "1999" is also selected at Alicante Film Festival Fiction Laboratory 2020 (Spain) and VLC PITCH FORUM [12](Valencia, Spain).


He is director and executive producer of LA NUEVA NORMALIDAD, written by Álex Rodrigo (“Money Heist” Netflix series director), part of RESET [13] (Aragón TV; acquired by FILMIN platform) an ensemble movie about CoVID19 consequences.


His thriller screenplay MIRADA DE VIDRIO is Argentina finalist at Latin American Contest of Fiction Arguments LATC (Latin American Training Center) together with CIBA-CILET (Ibero-American Regional Center of the International Center of Liaison des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision-CILECT).
