Aleksander Kupczyński (13 February 1873 – 13 March 1941) was a Catholic clergyman, Polish folklorist, and politician. Elected to the Legislative Sejm of the Second Polish Republic, he was notable as a founder of the Republic of Gniew.

Biography

Early life

Kupczyński was born in the Kuyavian village of Paliwodzizna, Dobrzyń Land which was then part of Congress Poland. His father Julian Kupczyński was a former insurrectionist of the January Uprising, and his family made a living from forestery.[1]
