Women & Performance: A Journal of Feminist Theory

Founded and operating since 1983, Women & Performance was created by graduate students from the Department of Performance Studies at New York Universities Tisch School of the Arts. Self-published for 23 years, the journal was eventually acquired by Routledge/Taylor and Francis and continues to be produced to this day.

The periodical publishes scholarly essays about gender and performance. Discussing theater, dance, music and film, articles were peer-reviewed and the collective often featured guest-edited special issues.
