India Annette Andrews Houghton (born February 16th, 2002) is an American tennis player. She plays college tennis for the 21-time national champion Stanford Cardinal.
She reached her first career pro singles final at the W15 Lakewood on July 7th, 2024[1].
Junior career
Houghton was born in San Francisco, California. As a junior, she was the G16s Finalist at the 2018 Orange Bowl[2] and 2018 Easter Bowl[3].
She played on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior circuit from 2018 to 2020, winning three singles titles and two doubles titles. In her first ITF junior tournament at in Vancouver, Canada, she captured the singles and doubles titles.
Houghton committed to Stanford in September 2019, ranked as high as the number 2 recruit in the country on TennisRecruiting.net [4] and part of the nation's top recruiting class for 2021[5].
College tennis
Houghton is a three-time Pac-12 Tournament champion (2022-24), a four-time ITA Scholar-Athlete (2021-24), and four-time Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll (2021-24).[6]
Despite battling injury her junior year and red-shirted, she returned to play her senior year and had an undefeated dual-season singles record and led the team in dual-match singles clinches (6) [7]. Houghton is majoring in Science, Technology, and Society.[8]
