ITS UK is a not-for-profit trade association representing the intelligent transport systems (ITS) sector in the United Kingdom. It supports over 175 member organisations from both the private and public sectors, spanning all disciplines within ITS, including traffic management, connected and autonomous vehicles, and mobility as a service.

ITS UK advocates for the ITS industry in the UK, engaging with government and stakeholders to support growth in the sector.

History

Mission and objectives

ITS UK aims to promote the development and deployment of intelligent transport systems in the UK. It seeks to create value for its members and the wider economy by supporting innovation, growth and export opportunities in the ITS sector. The association also advocates for policies and initiatives that can help decarbonise transport and contribute to the UK's goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2050.

Membership

ITS UK has over 175 member organizations, including companies, public sector bodies, and academic institutions involved in the ITS sector. Its members span all disciplines within ITS, including traffic management, connected and autonomous vehicles and mobility as a service.

Activities and services

ITS UK activities include policy advocacy, engagement with government and other stakeholders, networking and knowledge-sharing events, professional development programs and research and publications on ITS topics.

ITS UK's policy priorities include:

  • A move toward mobility pricing to manage demand and incentivise sustainable transport

Governance and leadership

ITS UK is governed by a Council elected from its membership. Max Sugarman was appointed as CEO in 2022; Steve Norris is President.
