Gary Ablett Junior (born May 14, 1984) is an Aussie rules footballer currently playing for the Geelong Cats in the AFL. He is the eldest son of Gary Ablett, who was a champion Australian rules football player at Geelong and Hawthorn between 1982 - 1997. While Gary Sr. was a powerhouse forward with an exceptionally high leap, Gary Jr. has made his name a midfielder/forward pocket known for his, classy, ability to find space in the tightest pack situations. Ablett, who like his father, is very media-shy, but has done some rare media appearances on The AFL Footy Show. The first, he was bribed by the then-host Eddie McGuire, who offered him back stage passes to a Justin Timberlake concert only if he came on the show. The other times were simply to see girlfriend, Laura, sing on the show.

Gary Jr. was picked up by the Cats under the father-son rule and made his senior debut in 2002. He was selected 12 times in his first season and spent half of the year playing in the reserves, a highlight of his debut year was being a member in the Geelong 2002 VFL Premiership against Port Melbourne at Optus Oval.

He continues to improve as a player in his own right and sometimes shows glimpses of the brilliance his father Gary Sr. used to produce on a weekly basis. His younger brother Nathan debuted for the Cats senior team in late 2005, while his cousin Luke is a fixture on the Sydney Swans' senior list.

In 2005 Ablett launched a personal website http://www.garyablettjnr.com which attracted front page media criticism in the Geelong Advertiser newspaper for charging a $100 annual fee to fans for access to "his own thoughts in a monthly news letter “The Ablettiser“, though the website does give you a warming video introduction by the man himself, Gary Junior. Nathan has a website which is believed to be in the making.
