History
The Whalers played in the WHA Junior West Hockey League's first ever overtime game on September 22, 2006. The game was also the Whalers first ever game. Sadly for the Whalers, their opponents, the Osoyoos Spurs were up to the challenge and defeated the Whalers by a score of 6-5. Two nights later, the Whalers and Spurs met again. The results were much better for the Whalers as they beat the Spurs for their first ever victory, in regulation, by a score of 4-2.

The Whalers finished their first ever regular season in second place. The entered the playoffs in a round robin against the Squamish Cougars and the Bellingham Bulls. The Whalers came out victorious. They next took on the Lumby Fighting Saints, and won a rather controversial series. This led them to Ontario to take on the GMJHL's Bradford Rattlers for the NJHA Alliance Cup. The Whalers were squashed in game one, 6-1. They came back strong in game two, actually leading 6-5 going into the third. Bradford pulled themselves together and scored 3 goals to win the game 8-6. The Rattlers clinched the 3-game-series to win the Alliance Cup as National Champions. They played a third game, which resulted in a 6-5 shootout victory for the Rattlers.
