"I disagree with the definition of microplasticity, I think it also has another meaning. The difference between macro- and micro- plasticity I was taught was not that they act on large and small areas, but that they are different ways of looking at the plasticity of a bulk material. The macroplasticity ignores what is going on inside the material at the atomic scale and calculates what is happening at the continuum level by making approximations such as yield criteria etc. Microplasticity, on the other hand, looks at the material from the atomic scale, examining the motion of dislocations, and thus scales it up to predict the bulk behaviour. What does everybody else think?" I posted this on the talk-page a long time and nobody replied. I do not feel confident to write this article myself, as mechanical properties of materials is not my strong point, but I do feel what is currently written is an incorrect definition of microplasticity as far as I have ever been taught it at university.
