Sir Adrian Dingli is regarded as one of the ablest Maltese who made use of their talents for Malta's welfare both locally and in the international sphere. He was born in 1817.

After obtaining the degree of Doctor of Laws at the University of Malta at the exceptionally early age of barely twenty years, he pursued his legal studies abroad. In 1853 he was appointed Crown Advocate and in this capacity he effected with consummate scholarship the consolidation of the Civil Laws. In 1880 he was raised to the office of Chief Justice. He died in 1900.
