Orla

Orla (pronounced OR-lah) is an Irish girls name; variations in spelling but not pronunciation include Orlaith, Orlagh and Orflaith. In the Irish language ór means gold and flaith means prince/sovereign. Orla is generally taken to mean golden lady or princess.

The origin of the name dates back to pre-Christian Celtic Ireland and it is still in use today. Orla was a name shared by both the daughter and sister of Ireland’s most famous High King Brian Boru.
