Herb Wesson

Herb J. Wesson, Jr. is a California politician. He currently serves as a Los Angeles City Councilman. He represents the 10th district. He served in the State Assembly represeenting the 47th district from 1998 until 2004. He served as Speaker of the California State Assembly from 2002 until 2004.. After being termed out of the legislature, he became a senior advisor and special assistant to Supervisor Yvonne Burke and was elected in November 2005 to the Los Angeles City Council to represent the tenth district. Prior to his service in the State Assembly, Wesson served as the Chief of Staff to former tenth district councilman Nate Holden as the Chief of Staff to current Los Angeles County Supervisor Yvonne Burke.

Wesson received his undergraduate degree from Lincoln University, PA. He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African Americans.
