This user believes that a user's edit count does not necessarily reflect on the value of their contributions to Wikipedia.
I use to count my edits but don't anymore. Some might say this is because I do not make that many edits and I have spells of "time off" from Wikipedia. However, three weeks preparing the medal tables for the Commonwealth games which resulted in few edits but a lot of information convinced me it is quality not quantity.
I also have some accounts on Wikipedia in other languages. I set these up for two reasons: (1) So if I do contribute they go under my username (and not by IP) and (2) To protect my username. Contributions on other languages are likely to be limited to ensuring consistency with the English wikipeida, adding inter wiki links or adding geographic coordiantes.
