Vuze (formerly code-named Zudeo[3]) is both a BitTorrent client and content service by Azureus, Inc. The vuze.com website allows users to upload, download and share video content using this client. Unlike video sharing websites such as YouTube, Vuze focuses on DVD-quality and high-definition video content.[4] It will also sell content protected by digital rights management.[5] The company claims to have "distribution deals with 12 television, film and media companies"[6][4]. On 2006-12-20, the BBC announced that hundreds of episodes of its programs will be made available through Vuze.[5]

The Vuze client is based on the Azureus 3.0 [7] BitTorrent client and is therefore also open source, published under the GPL license, and runs on systems that can execute Java applications and support SWT. According to the nature of the BitTorrent peer-to-peer protocol, when the client is running it not only downloads content but simultaneously also uploads pieces of content to other users.
