Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss, first elected in 2002, is seeking re-election to his position as a United States Senator from Georgia. For the Democrats, Vernon Jones is a possible contender. But more recently, speculation has been circulating around Congressmen Sanford Bishop, and Jim Marshall, although Marshall is being urged not to run for the Senate, because his district leans Republican. In June 2007, TV journalist Dale Cardwell announced his intention to run as a Democrat.[1]

Elections will be held on November 4; the winner will rule along side Johnny Isakson.
