GACP is an acronym which stands for "Generally Accepted Compliance Standards", which was conceived by the founders of Fortegrity, a new economy company in the GRC "Governance, Risk and Compliance" space. This standard currently exists only in theory, and it is the hope of the founders of Fortegrity and many others in the GRC community that such a standard will emerge. The benefits of broadly accepted standards in this area will great positive impact on organizations, as it will help guide them in complying with the myriad of regulations and mandates under which they fall, in a measured and efficient manner.
Some groups do not have interest in the creation of such a standard. These may include accounting and consulting companies who benefit from the conflicting, overlapping, confusing, and otherwise daunting GRC matrix which result in their continued engagement in accounts they serve. Others may include politicians who benefit from discussion of problems, rather than their resolution.
