Hyde Middle School

Hyde Middle School, official name Warren E. Hyde Middle School, is a middle school located in the Rancho Rinconada neighborhood of Cupertino, California. It is part of the Cupertino Union School District. The school colors are blue and white and the school mascot is the lion. It earned a California Distinguished School award in 1994.

The current principal at Hyde is Todd Shimada and Assistant principal is Lisa Taormina. Formerly, the principal had been Stephen Parker, who is currently retired.

Students of the school may take either one or two electives, depending on whether the student chooses to take an optional "zero period" (a class period before the first.)

Hyde Middle School is known to be the only middle school with ELD <English Language Development> Program in Cupertino Union School District.

Typically, students of Hyde come from either De Vargas Elementary School, Eisenhower Elementary School, Sedgwick Elementary School, or as ELD participants from John Muir Elementary School. Most students then go on to attend Cupertino High School, located in the same neighborhood, upon completion of their middle school curriculum. Some go to Fremont High School

Hyde Middle School is especially known for its wrestling and track teams.

Deaths

Hyde saw three of its members pass away in the 2006-2007 school year. Two students and a teacher lost their lives, to the grief of the school.

• Tuesday, June 12. The Yearbook was handed out. Talent show also shown during 2nd period.

• Wednesday, June 13. The school is haveing it's end-of-the-year reward day on a field trip (for the safety of our students and staff, that place will be kept a secret.

• Thursday, June 14. School our early: 12:00

• Friday, June 15. School out early: 12:00. Last day of 2006-2007 school year.
