Dunja Knebl is an artist performing folk songs in many diverse languages. She was born in Zagreb but lived in Indonesia, USA and Russia for parts of her life. She worked as a translator and linguist professor after completing studies in Zagreb's Philosophy Faculty. She has been nominated in 1997 for best female vocalist in Croatia. According to herself her greatest achievement is the recommendation of the London-based A Rough Guide to World Music from 1999 where her album "Iz globine srca" is recommended as an introduction to ethno-music from Croatia.
