Schweizer Jugend Forscht is a Swiss foundation, which was founded by Adolf Portmann in 1970. It is the oldest Swiss foundation of its kind. It aims on promoting motivated high school students. Schweizer Jugend Forscht is supported by the Swiss government, the largest Swiss universities and several major enterprises.

Best known is the annual national science contest. The contest consists of a pre-selection in fall and a finale section in spring. In the finale section the marks good, very good and excellent can be achieved. The projects with excellent mark receive usually a special prize (attending the meeting Nobel Prize laureates, the Nobel Prize ceremony or spending time at research institutes with a good reputation). In addition prize money is given to projects with high marks.
