100 Great Paintings
Edwin Mullins created a TV series called 100 Master Pieces for BBC in 1980, where he also acted as moderator. He chose 20 theme groups like war, adoration, language of color, hunt, bathing, ... picking 5 paintings each. The collection reaches from 12th century China through 1950ies with an emphasis on European paintings. He deliberately avoided the greatest paintings such as Leonardo Davinci's Mona Lisa or John Constables ``The hayrack. The sequel is avialable on VHS or on DVD[1].
1980-1994 WDR produced a series called ``1000 Meisterwerke which was broadcast in Germany.
The English or German sequel was broadcast in USA, England, Netherlands, South Afrika, Austria, Skandinavia and Japan.
