"Poison"
Song

"Poison" is a song by artist Alice Cooper on his album Trash.

This song is arguably one of the most well known songs by Alice Cooper, and has been covered by recent pop bands, such as Groove Coverage.

The lyrics describe the narrator's love for a femme fatale, but it has been speculated that the woman may not be "the poison running inside my [Cooper's] veins." Likely, the "poison" refers to an addiction to drugs, especially heroin. Alice Cooper's follow-up album Hey Stoopid heavily focused on drug addiction, such as the title song Hey Stoopid and another by the name of Snakebite.[1]

Position in charts

It was rated one of the Best Air Guitar Anthems on New Zealand's uChoose 40. [1]. The song changes key 4 times in the chorus, quite unusual in a straight rock song.

The Music Video

The video to the song shows Alice Cooper being chained to a bizarre mechanism and having a ghostly woman looming over his body while he sings. The video had to be censored for showings during the day, due to nudity involving a woman, (played by Rana Kennedy), showing her breasts and wearing nothing but a pair of black pants, looming between lots of chains as Alice watches on. The video is still often played on VH1 Classic's Metal Mania.
