Grandsire

This article refers to the change ringing method of grandsire.

The method of grandsire is a simple method, usually the first method to be learnt by new bellringers. The pattern is as follows:

4/5 down, 6/7 down, 6/7 up, 4/5 up.

This can be represented graphically and there is a link at the bottom of the page.

Both the treble bell and number 2 bell plain hunt across the pattern, ie they go to the front to lead, then they travel to the back and then repeat for the entire pattern.
