Riotgear refers to the equipment used by riot police to subdue disorderly individuals. The name initially started as Riot, a reference to the electrical cannon from Einhander, but needed to be modified to avoid name collision. In most places where available, the name Riot is used, but Riotgear was used for Wikipedia under the (incorrect) assumption that Riot would have been taken by another individual with comparable lack of originality.
