Lydia Rubio was born in Havana, Cuba.

Among her personal exhibitions we can quote "Planar Landscapes and Figures", Meeting Point Art Center, Miami, Florida, U.S.A,1981 and "Lydia Rubio. Projects Room", Bernice Steinbaum Gallery, Miami, Florida, U.S.A, 2001. Since 1981 was part of many collective exhibitions, especially in U.S.A and America.

Awards

As artist obtained various awards during her life, we can mention the Graham Foundation Grant and Research Scholar, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts,U.S.A, 1975. In 1982 the Cintas Foundation Fellowship, New York and Harvard University, Research Scholar, Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A. In 1993 she obtained the Second and Third Prize in the "Featuring Florida: Statewide Juried Exhibition", The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota, Florida, U.S.A
