Vatnafjöll

Vatnafjöll is a 40 km long, 9 km wide basaltic fissure vent system, SE of Hekla, Iceland. It has been one of Iceland's most active volcanoes. More than two dozen eruptions have occurred at Vatnafjöll during the Holocene. Vatnafjöll last erupted about 1200 years ago.
