Ruperto Elichiribehety was an uruguayan Navy Lieutenant who in 1916 lead the Uruguayan Expedition attemping to rescue the Shackleton Expedition lost in Elephant island. He was the Captain of the "Instituto de Pesca 1" the first methalic vapor to navigate in the antartic waters. In his honor, the Uruguayan Antarctic Institute named a summer research station located in Lat: 63º 24´ 08´´ S, Long: 56º 58´ 23´´ W, the ECARE
