Reality Bites (Step by Step)

"Reality Bites" is the 125th episode and debuted in the 6th season of the ABC television series Step by Step.

Plot

Frank shows off J.T.'s new apartment to Carol and Dana, and J.T. tries saves some money by having a roomate pay the rent.
He begins to tell his parents the news of his new roomate is, when all of a sudden Rich flies through the door on roller blades,
missing the Lamberts and ending up smashing the far right window with skies. Frank goes to help Rich up, and accidently gets bagged by his skies. 
Carol comes home from work to the surprise of a bnch of toys for Lilly. She discusses her concerns over the amount of spoiling Lilly is getting.

He even goes as far as to hire a Clown to entertain her daughter.

J.T. and Rich over use their new found freedom, so Frank lays down some new rules with a lease o a pizza box. The rules stipulate the rent has to be paid at the first of each month, no loud music past 10:00pm, and no women are allowed overnight or else Rich's stereo goes in the woodchipper. 
J.T. and Rich spend their rent money on a satelite system for their new pad.  Frank warns them about the rent and they just laugh it off. Jean-Luc comes into the kitchen to show Frank and Carol his last present for Lilly. He gets her a pony, much to Carol's dismay. She talks to him and finds out it is all about his longing for his daughter.

Trivia

With the garage and the roof over the front porch, many fans wonder why J.T. and Rich spend most of the night in the rain.

Significance

This is the episode where Rich moves into the Lambert household.
