Plot

Baby Tiddly Winks with the red ball as her playmate

Baby Half-Note, Baby Tiddly Winks, Baby Lofty and Baby Ribbon are in search of a new game, becoming bored with everything they have in the nursery. Ribbon and Buttons take them outside and tell them that a red ball will soon come over the hill, and that the babies should use their imagination to do whatever they want with it. Baby Tiddly Winks imagines the ball will take her to a mansion filled with toys and games and they will play all day. Baby Lofty imagines the ball teaching her to become Ponyland's greatest flying ace. Baby Half-Note imagines the ball as a pianist who accompanies her as she dances on stage before all of Ponyland. Baby Ribbon imagines it will enable her to finally master her winking, and open a school of unicorn magic.

The Baby Ponies realise the ball still hasn't actually come, and that they've played entirely using their imaginations. As they return to the nursery, they thank Ribbon and Buttons for making up a story to keep them entertained. The adults are confused, as they actually sent the ball over the hill right away - they find it tangled in the bushes nearby.

Notes

  • Includes the song 'Imagining is Fun'
  • As Ribbon goes to rescue Baby Ribbon, Baby Lofty suddenly turns into a straight-haired Earth Pony!
  • When Baby Lofty asks about imagining anything with the red ball, she either sounds like herself and then Baby Tiddly Winks, or her lips still move while Baby Tiddly Winks is talking.
  • Baby Half Note gets Baby Heart Throb's colors for a split second.
  • Whenever the babies imagine crowds of other ponies cheering them, they have no symbols and an assortment of colours that don't match any characters from the series.
  • Near the end, a Baby Truly suddenly pops up at the water spout scene. There is no such pony!
