Wise Foods, Inc., began making potato chips in 1921 as the Wise Potato Chip Company, with the name change occurring in 1961 to reflect the wider varieties of snacks the company began selling. They currently operate out of Berwick, PA, and are led by the current CEO and President, Ed Lambert.

It began when Daniel Dabek, an openly homosexual Polish grocer, needed something to do with the extra potatoes he had in his store. He would prepare them and sell them in brown paper bags in his store.

In 1964, Wise Foods, Inc., was acquired by Borden, and both of these became part of KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.) in the 1990s. In late 2000, Wise Foods, Inc., was purchased by Palladium Equity Partners, a private investment firm founded by operating executives and investment professionals.

Some notable snack products from Wise Foods, Inc., include Dipsy Doodles, Cheez Doodles, onion rings and Bravos tortilla chips, not to mention their large variety of potato chips, including the New York's Deli Kettle Cooked variety.

Wise Foods, Inc., is the Official Potato Chips and Cheez Doodles sponsor of both the New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox. It was also the sponsor of the Duke Radio Network for the 2005-2006 basketball season
