this is the same as knifers, and the pages should be emalgamated

Spots?

It's called knifers where I come from, but I've heard people calling it hot knifes.

Not spots though, thats a retarded name for it and I think the page should be renamed either knifers or hot knifes.

Knifers and Spotters

While these two activities are functionally identical, the origins appear drastically different and any convergence of these articles must pay respect to these differences. Spotting is never called "kniving" where I am from (NZ) and I'm sure vice-versa is true in other parts of the world. Also worthy of mention in any convergence of these articles is that "Spotting" refers only to the consumption of cannabis or hashish while hot-kniving may be used to take other drugs.

agree with the merge, seems to be the same 87.80.70.88 13:55, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spots

'Spots' are what teenages have on their faces.... at least in the UK thats the definition 99.9% of people would give the word. Can we add a disambig on this? 194.70.193.179 10:53, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hmmm..

-I believe this practice is more commonly known as "Hot-Knives", "Knife-Hits", etc, and not spotters. I have to disagree with the first poster and say that spots seems more like something associated with more drugs than knife hits.-

Hot Knives

Spots or Spotters and Knifing, Hot-Knives, Knife-Hits, and Knivers all appear to be the same, but I think that given the different geographic locations where the termonolgy comes from, they should not be merged into one article. Also, where I'm from in Canada Hot-Knifing only implies marijuana, hash, or oil, and not for any other drugs. I've even smoked roaches from joints between two hot knives, but never heard of anyone using the blades for anything else. We commonly refer to them as 'Blade Hoots' or 'Doing the Blades'. I've never heard the term spots or spotters before. To me, a spotter is a person who helps you lift weights by standing around and helping you if you are unable to complete your lift. The spotter keeps you from injuring yourself.

WTF?

Not the page I would expect to come across when typing "spots" into the search engine. I would have expected acne, sun spots or pokda dots, but not "an amazing way of smoking cannabis". Apart from the biased language, I think it's not a good look for wikipedia to have a page like this linked to a common English word.

C.

Yeah, Hot Knifing is the only way I've ever heard it referred top. Greg343 20:39, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fresh Air, Juice, Company Should Be Removed

Last sentence of article read: "As with all cannabis use, unpleasant effects can be reduced with fresh air, orange juice and good company" ??? That is absolutely unsourced. Obviously reducing/watching one's dose would be helpful and thus fresh air would be preferred for breathing versus more marijuana smoke/vapor. But as far as fresh air versus indoor air, drinking orange juice, and what kind of company you are in, these things all may make one feel better (assuming one even likes orange juice) but they are in no way partiuclar to cannabis and have no partiuclar effect on the pharmacology of an adverse reaction to cannabis (or any other drug). This kind of statement does not belong in this type of publication unless we have some kind of clinical evidence.

Disambig Page required

This isn't the first meaning of "Spots" that most people would think of. Common useage of the word "Spots" covers:

1) acne 2) spotlights (both theatrical and in the home) 3) driving lights (automotive) 4) polka dots

I'm sure people would be interested to see it refers also to a method of drug abuse (I know I was), but there are far more common/widespread meanings. I notice that "dragon" doesn't automatically take one to a page on heroine! Let's have a disambig page, and use this meaning of "spots" coming from it, as well as the more common uses.
