Fox Lane Middle School

Fox Lane Middle School (FLMS) is a sixth through eighth grade school in Bedford, New York and opened in 1967. It is part of Bedford Central School District, and rests on the Fox Lane Campus which includes Fox Lane High School.

FLMS is comprised of three houses; East, West and South house. These smaller houses provide smaller communities within the school to make the transition from elementary school easier. There is also Central house, which is not an actual house, but has the main office, art, music, and other classes. Each house contains roughly three hundred students (100 per grade per house), this puts the school's population between nine hundred and one thousand. There are nine different teams: South 6, South 7, South 8, East 6, East 7, East 8, West 6, West 7, and West 8. At the starting of the year each team has it's "Team Day" where each team does challenge activities. Most of the students have classes in at least two of the houses, but every student has classes in Central house.

The main classes in FLMS are Science, Math, English, and Social Studies. Students have Gym for three out of the four semesters. The semester that a student does not have Gym will have half a semester of Health and half a semester of Study Skills. In each semester students rotate in an art class that consists of four classes which each focus on different areas of art. Most students also have a choice of a language class; Spanish, French, Italian, and Spanish for native speakers, a class that helps native Spanish speakers learn how to get better at it. Most also have a choice of an art class; Chorus, Band, Orchestra, and Exploratory Music, a class that does not perform like the others but is focused on teaching various things. The school has an After-School program, where students can get extra help in most subjects or stay after for extra-curricular activities.
