Cassandra "Cassie" Turner is a fictional character on the Australian television soap opera Home and Away, played by Sharni Vinson. Cassie is quite popular in student websites throughout the world, and many websites make reference to her oversized forehead and naturally tanned skin, which many wrongly assume is fake tan.

History

Cassie made her first appearance in episode 3920 when she arrived on the beach riding a jet-ski and met Ric Dalby. (It turned out that Cassie had actually stolen the jet-ski, and she and Ric had to run for it when the angry owner turned up!)

She eventually disclosed that she was molested by her uncle, Ben Foxton, as a child. When her grandmother, Joy, died, she was taken in by the Saunders family. Her relationship with Ric has suffered many problems including her jealousy over Ric and Matilda's obvious closeness, keeping secrets from each other and a clash of their strong egos. Flynn's death has put further strain on their relationship plus Cassie has found a rival for Ric's affections in troublesome newcomer Belle Taylor, the disagreeable misfit who Cassie understandably has taken an instant dislike to. The animosity between Cassie and Belle boiled over into a vicious catfight when Cassie caught her bitter rival with Ric. Ric and Cassie broke up for good after both agreeing that the relationship was not worth all the trouble. Ric also fell in love... Cassie was forced to move on and did so by falling for Martha's brother Michael – known to all as "Macca" – who had arrived in town to visit his sister. Sally was disturbed by the age difference between Macca and Cassie, and Martha was worried as her brother had a reputation for being fickle with girls. Sally clashed with Cassie over the relationship especially when Cassie was caught out for underage drinking. Eventually Cassie was forced to break up with Macca when he told her that he was leaving town. She was delighted when Macca returned but he started showing an aggressive side to his personality caused by his drug abuse. He lashed out a number of times and hit Cassie.

Now that Macca was out of the picture, Ric and Cassie were back together and trusted each other more than before. Ric and Cassie also became very concerned about how depressed Matilda has become following her injuries in the explosion, her problems with Lucas and the fear that her brother Robbie and sister Kit could be dead. She still had some rivalry with bitter Belle, whom Ric dumped to get back with Cassie. Cassie thinks Ric is her 'true' love until she sees Belle kissing Ric. At first, Cassie doesn't want to listen to Ric, but then it all backfires when she sees the two talking on the beach. Cassie slaps Belle. While the girls are arguing, Amanda gets involved but pushes Cassie over.

Macca came back and Cassie realised that she still had feelings for him (since Ric was out of town at that time), soon though Ric came back at it wasn't long when he found out about Cassie's affair.

As word soon spread about this, everyone, even Ric, Matilda and her family turned against Cassie. She was forced to move out of home, shunned by her closest friends and mocked by the students at the school. Things got even worse when she found out that Matilda was getting friendly with her arch enemy Belle. With nothing left, Cassie thought that the Bay would be a better place without her and so left in the 2006 season finale.

Unknown to Macca, Cassie was desperately lonely in the city, missing her friends and her family. Upon hearing about Sally's stabbing, she returned and made several visits soon afterwards, to the disbelief of Macca. When Cassie said she would leave their home, they got into a big argument and it resulted into Macca slapping Cassie again.

Cassie started a helpline in Summer Bay, and soon got a call from a troubled girl named Lily. Cassie bent the rules to get Lily out of her abusive relationship, and succeeded. Lily is now living at the caravan house, but is in hospital after nearly drowning.

Cassie was briefly involved with Jules Munro. They were discoved by Alf kissing under a blanket at Drew Curtis's 18th Birthday party on the beach. The relationship ended when Jules left town after Drew's mother, Jazz let it slip that Jules had tried to put the moves on her.

Cassie then became attracted to Henk Van Minnen, Brad's best man, but he is very concerned of the age difference as she is not. After Sally's hen night, Martha and Rachel caught Cassie and Hank in bed together which obviously made Rachel feel more upset. The day before Sally and Brad's wedding Cassie finds out why Rachel has so much negativity towards Henk. Cassie then decides to live with Henk in the city.

However Cassie does eventually move back in with Sally, and shortly after Henk arrives back in town and breaks Cassies heart.
