A location in Downtown

The District is the name given to Columbia’s exciting downtown area. It features historic buildings, wonderful restaurants, an active bar scene, live music and theater. Also, more than 100 shops and galleries make the area a shopper’s delight.

One word of caution: Most areas in the district have pay parking meters and garages due to the fact that there are so many buildings in the area and small parking lots on most lots due to the historic nature of the area. Most of the pay meters on the streets DO NOT take paper cash, but do take coins other than pennies. Most metered parking in the parking garages do take paper money. Most, but not all metered time is Monday - Saturday 7:30 AM -6 PM. Most (all?) the meters downtown do not need to be fed money after 6:00 PM, on Holidays, or Sundays. (Some local college kids, Mizzou Tiger Fans, and other party-goer types use this to their advantage by going bar-hopping, watching football games, or doing various other activities in the Distrcit of Columbia (Missouri) on Saturday Nights after 6 to avoid getting cars towed away, as they would be if the party-going occurred on Friday night. (Cars can be left overnight in the District on Saturday without any meter penalties since Sundays are not metered times.)
