Jill Morgenthaler
Jill Morgenthaler (born 1954) is a a retired U.S. Army Reserve colonel and the deputy chief of staff for public safety in Illinois.[1] She is one of two democrats running in the upcoming Democratic primary with local businessman Steve Jaglain the February Democratic primary, but she is viewed as the prohibitive favorite. [2]

Morgenthaler handled press duties for the Army during the Abu Ghraib scandal in 2004 and downplayed the incident in an online journal that she wrote at the time.
She has been serving as a homeland security adviser to the unpopular Blagojevich, who has faced a wave of controversy in part from his awarding of state contracts.[3]
