Garrowhill is an area of Glasgow, Scotland 7 miles east of its city centre.

Garrowhill is frequently, and incorrectly, referred to as being part of Baillieston, though, statistically, it is larger in both area and population. Garrowhill has one primary school within its boundaries.

There is substantial evidence of a Roman fort and Camp in the Camp Road / Quinton Gardens area of Garrowhill. This was verified by Mary Birrell who on many occasions has assisted Glasgow's Mitchell Library and the City Council on local historical information. In the late 1920's her father took her a walk into what is now the Garrowhill housing estate and showed her the site of an old Roman Fort. It sat in a wooded area which can be viewed on an old map of the area. Apart from Mary's testimony one of the strongest clues is the subtle way in which the camp was spelt. To disambiguate the reference it was spelt "Incampment" rather than the normal '"Encampment"'. It is patently clear a Roman number one "I" was been inserted in the name. More on this and other local historical articles can be viewed via the Baillieston.com website link below.
