Sakuma drops (サクマ式ドロップス, Sakuma Shiki Doroppusu) are a hard candy from Japan. They are flavored with real fruit juice and are made by Sakuma Candy Co. based in the Ikebukuro section of Tokyo. The candies are not as popular as they were in the past, but they are an easily recognizable icon in Japan, since they have been available since the Meiji period.

The candies are sold in 4x3.5 inch tin cans with a tin pull cap. As the design on the cans often changes, they are collectible items.

Use in pop culture

Sakuma drops are featured prominently in the classic anime film Grave of the Fireflies (火垂るの墓, Hotaru no Haka), as the favorite food of the character Setsuko. A commemorative tin featuring an image of Setsuko from the film on one side was later released.

In the No Doubt music video "[| Ex-Girlfriend]," directed by Hype Williams, drummer Adrian Young is seen eating Sakuma drops on a bench.
