List of tallest buildings in India
India does not have many skyscrapers due to a low Floor space index. Most of the high rise buildings are in the commercial capital Mumbai, where space is a premium. Having skyscrapers put a huge strain on existing infrastructure. Water, parking, fire fighting and earthquake damage are all some of the ills of skyscrapers and permission to construct such is usually denied. A building above 24 metres is classified as a high-rise. Here is the list of tallest buildings in India.

The skyscraper scene is undergoing a tremendous transformation of late and the worlds tallest building, everest towers is on the drawing board in NOIDA ( North Okhla Industrial Development Area ) , which if it gets the green signal will be the worlds tallest building at 710 metres a lot higher than Taipei 101 even. It has been designed by the World famous indian architect Hafeez contractor , the person behind the 120 storied Marina tower being built in Dubai to be the worlds tallest bulding.
Also one of the higest resedential complexes in the subcontinent is coming up in south city, in calcutta in an area of 32 acres , 4 resedential 36 storied skyscrapers alongwith a 7,500,000 sq ft mall and a school and club with indias largest swimming pools is coming up and is under construction.
