Maui Pineapple Company, Ltd. (MPC) is a subsidiary of Maui Land & Pineapple Company Ltd, and is the USA’s largest grower, processor, and shipper of Hawaiian pineapples. MPC has existed for almost 100 years, is based in Maui, Hawaii, United States, and currently cultivates and processes approximately 6,000 acres (24 km2) of pineapple. The company is the only producer of Maui-grown pineapple.

Maui Pineapple Company cultivates and processes two varieties of pineapple: 1) Maui Gold®, 2) Maui Gold Organic Pineapple. Maui Gold is available only from Maui Pineapple Company and was introduced to the market by MPC in 1996. It is naturally sweet with a low acid content. Maui Gold is sold in Hawaii and the USA mainland, in both the West Coast and Midwest markets.

Hawaiian Pineapple Agriculture

Maui Pineapple Company uses field rotation, cover crop, and fallow time to produce and manage sustainable agriculture. MPC fields are also being evaluated for diversified crops, including taro, seed corn, flowers and other tropical crops. The company is an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) producer of pineapples, which system utilizes an ecological approach to farming to reduce pesticides.

Hawaiian Pineapple - Maui Pineapple Company History

Maui Pineapple Company originated from the holdings of the family of Dr. Dwight Baldwin. It began in 1909 as the Keahua Ranch Company. It became the Maui Pineapple Company in 1932 . In 1962, it merged with Baldwin Packers. In 1975, Maui Land & Pineapple Company, Ltd. Incorporated Maui Pineapple Company, Ltd. as its subsidiary devoted to pineapple and other agricultural operations. The company has started construction of a multi-purpose processing facility in Kahului, Maui, where its fresh fruit production operations will be consolidated into one modernized and efficient manufacturing facility. The facility will also provide agricultural services, such as refrigerated storage, freight consolidation and warehousing, to the greater Maui farming and food processing community. Maui Pineapple Company's headquarters are located in Kahului, Maui, with a sales office in Brentwood, California.

Maui Land & Pineapple Company, Ltd. (ML&P) is a land holding and operating company established in 1907 and based in Maui, Hawaii, United States. It is dedicated to agriculture, resort operation, and the creation and management of holistic communities, and owns approximately 25,000 acres (101 km2) on the island of Maui. The company wholly owns two principal subsidiaries: Maui Pineapple Company, Ltd., and Kapalua Land Company, Ltd., which operates the Kapalua Resort community. ML&P also owns and manages the 9,881-acre (40 km2) Pu`u Kukui Watershed Preserve, which is the largest private nature preserve in the state of Hawaii. Maui Land & Pineapple Company is a public company listed on the American Stock Exchange (AMEX) under the symbol “MLP”, with a current market capitalization worth over $300 million.
