Dana Telsey
Dana Telsey (born 1962) is an American consultant and financial analyst. Telsey has been ranked for 13-year and was the number one ranked analyst by Institutional Investor for seven years.[1]
Education and early career work
She is a 1984 graduate of Hobart-William Smith College and has an M.B.A. degree from Fordham University.[2] Telsey started at Barron Capital after her mother secured a secretary's position for mother's former neighbor, Ron Baron, while meeting him on the street. "Can you give Dana a job?"[3] Telsey was eventually promoted to Vice President of the Baron Asset Fund of Barron Capital.[4] Later, she was an analyst at CJ Lawrence [5] from 1991 to 1994.[6]
Bear Stearns and television career
She previously worked at Bear Stearns from 1994 to 2006 and was regularly interviewed by ABC, Wall Street Week, and NBC. She has been a guest analyst at CNBC and the "Today" show.[7][8] Prior to being a top rated analyst at Bear Stearns, she worked at CJ Lawrence and with Baron Asset Fund.
She established the Telsey Advisory Group in 2006.
Independent analyst role[9]
Some clients pay less than $100,000 a year for access to written reports, online computer models and news e-mails. Others pay several times that for direct access to Telsey and her team and customized services like mall tours. As an independent analyst, Telsey can give clients opinionated critiques of companies in a way her Wall Street brethren can't: She doesn't have to worry that publicly released reports will get back to management and impair her future access.[10]
Awards
- Number one ranked analyst by Institutional Investor for seven years.[11]
- Women-Owned Business of the Year by Manhattan Chamber of Commerce[12]
